Math for Trades & Healthcare 1

 

Course Description

This course is designed to help the student learn and master the arithmetic skills that they will need to work in business and industry. It will prepare the student who is going to be taking core level mathematics with an understanding of algebra and linear equations.

The first part of the course will be a review of integers, fractions, decimals and percents. Measurement in both the metric and English systems will be studied. Algebra will be introduced and polynomials, equations, formulas, ratios, proportions, and solving and graphing systems of linear equations will constitute the remainder of the course. Geometry and Trigonometry will be introduced in Chapters 2 and 3.

The emphasis will be on working problems that are associated with business and industry. The text was chosen with practicality in mind, and the assignments and tests will be keyed to problems that apply to real work situations.  Hours: 2
