RELPT031 Religions of India: Hinduism

 

Course Description

This is an introductory course in the basics of Hinduism. Major topic areas include History, Worlds of Meaning, and Spiritual Practices. Student is expected to become aware of Hinduism, understand its means of thought, and compare Hinduism to one's own faith. The community course will only offer lecture material.  The Professional Technical course will add texts, online material, projects, and assessment to the lectures.  Hours: 1

Outcomes

The successful student will:

  1. Develop a basic frame of understanding of the concepts, language, and skills related to Hinduism
  2. Respect and appreciate ethical behavior in Hinduism
  3. Compare and contrast Hinduism to one's own faith
  4. Learn and grow through discovering new concepts and patterns of faith.
