Overview
Idaho is known for its beautiful lands and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities. A substantial portion of Idaho’s economy and lure resides in outdoor recreation and tourism. As more people expand their use of Idaho lands and services, the demand for more skilled professionals and transformative leaders in outdoor services and resource management has increased. This program focuses on Adventure Leadership and provides students with technical skills and a theoretical understanding of Outdoor Adventure Education that can be applied in a professional position. Upon completion, graduates will be prepared to enter the adventure services industry, the outdoor education field, or transfer to pursue a four-year degree in a similar discipline. This certificate will provide graduates with a solid foundation to continue their academics and expand their profession.

Advising
Advisors work with students to ensure they make satisfactory progress toward academic goals
Clubs
The department is open to students beginning clubs that support learning objectives. All clubs must obtain approval from the department organizer before beginning any activities. All clubs must secure a faculty advisor prior to any official activities.
Preparation for Future Studies
This certificate provides a strong theoretical and practical education for students to continue onwards in their academic career. Graduates of this program will be prepared to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Education or Recreation. Graduates will be prepared to enter the Outdoor Education profession and contribute to the growth of the industry.
