RELPT032 Religions of India: Buddhism

 

Course Description

This is an introductory course in the basics of Buddhism. Major topic areas include History, Worlds of Meaning, and Yoga and Practices. Student is expected to become aware of Buddhism, understand its means of thought, and compare Buddhism to one's own faith. The community course will only offer lecture material.  The Professional Technical course will add texts and assessment to the lectures.  Hours: 1

Outcomes

The successful student will:

1. Develop a basic frame of understanding of the concepts, language, and skills related to Buddhism

2. Respect and appreciate ethical behavior in Buddhism

3. Compare and contrast Buddhism to one's own faith

4. Learn and grow through discovering new concepts and patterns of faith.
